Diyarbakır public transit network optimization near completion

The Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and Dicle University signed a protocol last year to optimise the public‑transport system in the city centre, aiming for greater efficiency, sustainability and accessibility. The joint study involved field work, passenger counts, travel‑time measurements, data analysis and modelling across the Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur and Yenişehir districts and the Oğlaklı campus.

The project is now in its final stage, with the draft report and evaluations being prepared for submission to the municipality. Dr. Beyhan İpeküz highlighted that the plan seeks to shorten travel times, improve accessibility and raise service quality through route and stop optimisation and increased capacity.
