Diyarbakır residents report rat infestation following earthquake damage

Residents of the Şeyh Şamil neighborhood in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır are reporting a significant increase in rats and mice following the destruction of damaged buildings caused by recent earthquakes. Local inhabitants claim that the lack of proper cleaning in sewage connections and basement areas of demolished structures has allowed rodent populations to expand.

Neighborhood Muhtar Çiçek Gözen stated that the infestation is affecting the psychological well-being of residents, with some individuals even forced to abandon their homes. While pest control measures were implemented approximately one month ago, residents report that the efforts were not permanent and that large rodents continue to appear in groups during the evening hours.
