Diyarbakır reports fatal domestic shooting and mass attack trial
In Diyarbakır, a domestic dispute in the Bağlar district resulted in the death of 32-year-old Ayfer Çakmak. Her husband, identified as O. Ç. (37), allegedly shot her with a shotgun during an argument. Police apprehended the suspect, and an investigation into the circumstances of the killing is ongoing.
Separately, the first hearing has commenced in Diyarbakır regarding a violent armed attack that occurred in the Kayapınar district on November 12, 2025. The attack, which targeted a home where 11 women and children were present, resulted in the death of İsmet Barcin and the serious injury of a 10-year-old child, J. B.
During the proceedings at the Diyarbakır 8. Heavy Penal Court, prosecutors requested life imprisonment for eight of the nine detained suspects on charges including intentional murder and attempted murder against a child. While some defendants, including Harun Barcin and Ramazan Barcin, were released, the court has adjourned the case to a later date.
