Diyarbakır's Bağcılar becomes Türkiye's most populous neighborhood

According to 2026 population data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, Bağcılar Mahallesi in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır has become the most populous neighborhood in Türkiye, with 151,459 residents.

This figure surpasses the 150,000 threshold, placing the neighborhood ahead of many cities and districts. Istanbul remains highly represented in the top ten, accounting for five of the most populous neighborhoods. The second and third most populous areas are Adnan Kahveci in Beylikdüzü (110,619 residents) and Kayabaşı in Başakşehir (108,455 residents), respectively.

Other notable entries in the top ten include Atakent in Küçükçekmece, which also exceeded 100,000 residents. The list is completed by Fırat in Diyarbakır, Zümrütevler in Maltepe, Mevlana in Kayseri, Zafer in Bahçelievler, Karapürçek in Ankara, and Halkalı Merkez in Küçükçekmece.
