DJ Kavinsky's death sparks tributes from Nicolas Duvauchelle and Quentin Dupieux

French electronic music pioneer Kavinsky (Vincent Belorgey) was found dead in his Paris apartment on 28 July, aged 50. Police opened an investigation, with an early hypothesis of a cerebral vascular accident, though the exact cause remains unconfirmed.

Actor Nicolas Duvauchelle posted an emotional Instagram tribute, calling Kavinsky “my brother” and lamenting the “immense void” left by his loss. Filmmaker Quentin Dupieux, a longtime friend who collaborated on the movies Steak and Nonfilm, also shared a heartfelt message, recalling their decades‑long friendship and expressing profound grief.

The death prompted additional condolences from international artists such as The Weeknd, Angèle, David Guetta and French President Emmanuel Macron, underscoring Kavinsky’s influence beyond France.
