Mao Hamasaki hospitalized in Hong Kong after suspected drugging

Japanese DJ Mao Hamasaki was hospitalized in intensive care after allegedly being drugged during a Halloween event in Hong Kong. Following a performance in Wan Chai, Hamasaki was invited to a private club in Tsim Sha Tsui, where she reportedly consumed a drink she believed was whisky but was actually spiked.

Hamasaki’s manager reported that preliminary tests showed positive reactions to four different drugs. The incident occurred after Hamasaki reportedly collapsed and experienced convulsions following her performance. Hong Kong police have launched an investigation into the matter, treating it as an intention to harm through the administration of poison.

Hamasaki has since regained consciousness but remains under medical observation. In a recent social media update, she expressed gratitude for the support and clarified that the incident was not directly the fault of the club manager or the establishment, noting that her manager acted out of distress during the initial confrontation.
