Djamin Ginting biopic ‘Djamin Setia Selamanya’ to release in October

The biographical film ‘Djamin Setia Selamanya’ is set to be released in Indonesian cinemas on October 1, 2026. Directed by Rako Prijanto, the film depicts the life and struggle of national hero Djamin Ginting, a military figure from Karo, North Sumatra, who played a key role in defending Indonesian independence.

Director Rako Prijanto noted that the production required two months of preparation and involved a screenplay written alongside Titien Wattimena and Linda. To ensure historical accuracy, Linda conducted research and interviews in Sumatra. Although the story is centered on Ginting’s actions in Sumatra, filming took place in Jakarta and Banyuwangi, East Java, due to logistical considerations.

The film aims to inspire younger generations by translating Ginting’s historical courage and visionary strategies into lessons relevant to modern challenges. Riahna Djamin Ginting, the daughter of the national hero, stated the film serves as a tribute to her parents and an effort to introduce independence history to the youth. The cast includes Rafi Sudirman, Marcel Darwin, Chico Kurniawan, Carlates Taufan, and Jourdy Pranata.
