DJI and Insta360 compete in portable gimbal camera market

The market for portable gimbal cameras has become increasingly competitive with the release of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P and the Insta360 Luna Ultra. Both devices weigh approximately 230 grams and feature a dual-lens setup with a 1-inch main sensor and a secondary telephoto module.

DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4P focuses on high dynamic range, claiming up to 17 stops using LOFIC technology, and includes D-Log 2 at 10-bit. It offers 4K video at up to 240 fps for slow motion. In contrast, the Insta360 Luna Ultra utilizes Leica optics and supports 8K resolution and Dolby Vision, providing a more versatile zoom range across five different focal steps.

While the DJI model is noted for its portrait capabilities with a 60mm f/1.8 lens, users have noted some interface limitations regarding vertical video and zoom transitions. The availability of accessories, such as the DJI Mic Mini 2, remains a key factor for creators using these devices.
