Togo Senate adopts law to reform commercial courts

The Togo Senate has adopted a bill to reform the institution of commercial courts. The reform aims to modernize commercial justice, strengthen legal security for transactions, and improve the business climate. Key features include the digitalization of services, allowing stakeholders to follow procedures and decisions remotely, and the rationalization of appeal timelines.

In a separate institutional development, the Institute of Internal Auditors of Togo (IIA Togo) has announced the 4th edition of the West African Days of Internal Audit (JOAAI 2026). Scheduled for September 23–25 in Lomé, the event will focus on the role of internal audit as a strategic driver for change and transformation in both public and private organizations across West Africa. The conference will address challenges such as the modernization of public finances, digitalization, and risk management.

Additionally, the Togolese Ministry of Territorial Administration, Local Governance, and Customary Affairs has initiated a review of the law governing civil status. This process, led by a consultant, aims to modernize the legal framework to better adapt to current practices and evolving administrative requirements.
