Djireye Clotilde Coly, Senegal’s Youth and Sports Minister, Targeted by Bodyshaming

The Action for Human Rights and Friendship (ADHA) condemned online bodyshaming of Senegal’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Djireye Clotilde Coly, calling the attacks a severe violation of human dignity and urging authorities to sanction the perpetrators. ADHA quoted its leader, Adama Mbengue, stating, “La dignité n’est pas négociable.”

Former prime minister Aminata Touré publicly defended Coly, denouncing the misogynist commentary as “medieval” and urging respect for women in public office. Touré posted, “J’apporte mon soutien total à notre nouvelle ministre… face aux attaques misogynes et moyenâgeuses,” and called for the minister to focus on policy work rather than personal attacks.
