Djoel Bolomboj signs with Spain's Unicaja after Red Star departure

Serbian 32‑year‑old center Djoel Bolomboj will join Spanish ACB club Unicaja Malaga for the upcoming season. After three seasons with Red Star Belgrade, where he was a key player but suffered serious knee and foot injuries, his contract expired in the summer and the club began rebuilding its frontcourt.

Negotiations with French club ASVEL fell through after the EuroLeague project collapsed, and Spanish journalist Ceme de Lukas reported that Unicaja, led by coach Ibon Navarro and sporting director Miloš Teodosić, expressed interest. Bolomboj is expected to play in the FIBA Champions League with Unicaja.
