Djurgarden signs Abdul Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood in record deal

Swedish Allsvenskan club Djurgarden has signed 23-year-old winger Abdul Abdulmalik from English National League side Boreham Wood in a record-breaking deal. The transfer fee is believed to exceed £1.5 million, surpassing the previous record for a player moving from the English fifth tier, which was set in 2012 when Jamie Vardy moved from Fleetwood Town to Leicester City.

Abdulmalik, an England-Nigeria international at the U-17 level, has signed a contract with the Stockholm-based club that runs until December 31, 2029. The winger joins Djurgarden following a standout period at Boreham Wood, where he recorded 17 goals and 10 assists during the 2025-26 season and contributed significantly during the National League play-offs.

Previously a Millwall academy product, Abdulmalik’s move to Sweden marks his first senior transfer outside of England. Djurgarden currently sits fifth in the Allsvenskan and is competing for European qualification spots.
