DK Shivakumar condemns site purification after Mallikarjun Kharge rally

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has strongly condemned the ‘purification’ of a site in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, where a public meeting led by All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge was held.

Shivakumar described the act as a “shameful deed” and an insult to the Constitution of India. He argued that the incident is not merely an affront to an individual but a direct attack on the values of equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. He further characterized the move as a “disgusting reminder of caste discrimination in modern India,” noting that demanding the purification of a public space simply because a Dalit leader delivered a speech is a clear example of such prejudice.

The Chief Minister emphasized that such discriminatory practices must not be tolerated in a secular society where every citizen deserves equal dignity. He called upon democratic forces to raise their voices against the incident, stating that silence would only encourage those attempting to divide society.
