DLRG Travemünde promotes silicone search bands for beach safety
The DLRG Travemünde is highlighting the use of silicone child search bands to assist in locating lost children on the beach. These free bands, available through beach chair rental services and the DLRG main station, feature an engraved number that corresponds to a contact list, allowing lifeguards to quickly notify parents if a child wanders off.
Gerrit Pentzin, chairman of the Lübeck DLRG, noted that approximately 500 of these bands are distributed annually in Travemünde. While currently blue, future batches will transition to the standard DLRG red. The organization is also updating its informational flyers to better promote this service and warn visitors about potential hazards at the Priwall beach area.
