dm drogerie markt expands presence in Slovakia and Poland
The German drugstore chain dm drogerie markt continues its expansion in Central Europe. In Žilina, Slovakia, the company has opened its seventh location at the Aupark shopping center. As part of its local community support initiative, dm donated nearly 22,000 EUR—representing 30% of its first-day turnover—to the Žilina Municipal Library to revitalize its outdoor relaxation zone.
In Poland, dm is pursuing a strategic growth plan with the goal of reaching approximately 80 stores by the end of 2026. Having opened 76 locations since its 2022 debut, the company is focusing on high-potential locations beyond major metropolitan areas. Each new store requires an investment of roughly 3 million PLN and typically creates seven jobs. Despite the expansion, the company reported a loss of 174.4 million PLN for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2025, though management maintains that its financial situation remains stable.
