Ádám Matolcsy takes CEO roles at companies linked to MNB scandal
Ádám Matolcsy, son of former central bank governor György Matolcsy, has assumed CEO roles at multiple companies linked to the ongoing Hungarian National Bank (MNB) scandal. According to reports from G7, one of these entities, Dry Immo Zrt., has been renamed Obsidian Capital Zrt.
These corporate shifts suggest a transition of control within a business empire previously associated with István Száraz. Száraz, described as a trusted associate of the Matolcsy family, reportedly managed assets for the clan through various real estate-focused companies. Recent changes show the removal of Száraz from shareholder lists in certain entities, replaced by companies linked to Ádám Matolcsy, such as Minelley FZCO and Magyar Stratégiai Zrt.
Obsidian Capital Zrt. holds a majority stake in Quartz Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt., the firm that managed the private equity fund involved in an attempt to bypass the MNB foundation's asset management during György Matolcsy’s final days in office. The ultimate extent of Ádám Matolcsy’s control over these assets may depend on the outcome of ongoing money laundering investigations related to the MNB foundation, which previously saw the seizure of nearly 100 billion forints.
