dm plans AI shopping agent for app rollout in 2027
The German drugstore chain dm plans to introduce an AI-powered shopping agent within its app by early 2027. The service, reportedly named ‘dm-mitgedacht’, will follow a phased rollout starting with intelligent shopping lists.
In subsequent stages, the agent is expected to adjust shopping carts based on specific customer criteria—such as price, brand, or ingredients—and can complete purchases upon user request. CEO Sebastian Bayer noted that the technology is expected to have fundamental consequences for the business, as the company aims to keep customers within its own app ecosystem rather than relying on third-party AI assistants.
