DMI issues nationwide heavy rain and thunderstorm warning for Denmark

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued a category‑1 warning for severe weather across almost all of Denmark, effective from midnight until Wednesday afternoon. The alert cites the risk of intense local rainfalls of 15–25 mm within 30 minutes, which can cause flash flooding of roads, tunnels and basements, as well as thunderstorms with hail and lightning.

The warning covers the whole country except Bornholm. Reports indicate skybursts in 22 municipalities, with the heaviest measured in Vejle Municipality (34.2 mm) and at Flyvestation Karup (28.7 mm) during the night. Temperatures are expected to range between 19 °C and 28 °C, with light to moderate winds. The weather may disrupt traffic and daily activities, and DMI advises the public to monitor updates closely.
