Dmitry Bivol rejects double‑purse offer for Beterbiev trilogy
International Boxing Association (IBA) president Umar Kremlev said Dmitry Bivol’s team turned down a proposal worth twice the purse Bivol earned for his first two bouts with Artur Beterbiev. Kremlev added that Beterbiev offered to fight for free to make the third fight happen, but Bivol’s camp is still exploring other options.
The stalled trilogy comes as the WBO has set a July 26 deadline for Bivol to begin negotiations on a mandatory defense against Callum Smith. Bivol previously vacated his WBC title rather than face challenger David Benavidez, underwent back surgery, and returned with a win over Michael Eifert. Beterbiev’s last fight was a unification bout in Saudi Arabia. Kremlev said the IBA remains ready to stage the trilogy in Russia or elsewhere, calling it “the only appropriate gesture” for the division.
