Dmitry Medvedev criticizes US relations and Donald Trump

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and former president, stated that relations between Moscow and Washington are damaged for decades to come. He described the United States and Donald Trump as systemic rivals.

Medvedev characterized Trump as an extremely narcissistic individual who possesses sharp business instincts rather than strategic leadership capabilities. He noted that while certain moves, such as a potential ‘diesel deal’ with Russia, could yield tangible economic dividends for the US, such pragmatism is insufficient to mend ties.

A primary point of contention cited by Medvedev is the ‘Graham Act,’ legislation aimed at strengthening sanctions against Russia and Iran. He labeled the act a ‘systemic Russophobic move by the American elite’ designed to function for decades. Medvedev argued that the legislation is an illegal infringement on the rights of Russia and its citizens, suggesting its long-term impact could even be qualified as an act of genocide.
