DMK leader A Raja faces backlash over remarks on MISA controversy
DMK leader A Raja is facing criticism following a heated political dispute regarding the historical imprisonment of MK Stalin under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). The controversy began after Tamil Nadu Law Minister CTR Nirmal Kumar challenged the DMK’s claims, arguing that no detention order existed to establish such an arrest.
The tension escalated after Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay made a gesture in the Assembly regarding a jaw injury allegedly suffered by Stalin during his detention, which Vijay later described as inadvertent.
In a response during a DMK protest in Chennai, A Raja shifted the focus of the debate by making personal remarks. Raja questioned the parentage of Nirmal Kumar and directed insults toward Vijay, calling him a “great scoundrel” rather than a “great actor.” These comments have redirected political scrutiny toward Raja’s rhetoric rather than the original allegations regarding Stalin’s imprisonment.
