DMK leader Kanimozhi meets regional leaders to discuss new political alliance

DMK parliamentary leader Kanimozhi has initiated discussions with various regional leaders to explore the possibility of a broad political alliance independent of both the BJP and Congress. These moves follow the failure of a constitutional amendment bill related to delimitation and the increasing number of Lok Sabha seats.

In Mumbai, Kanimozhi met with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the impact of delimitation on southern states and the need for coordination among regional parties. Following this, she traveled to Delhi to hold separate meetings with Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Sharad Pawar and his daughter, MP Supriya Sule.

The discussions focused on the strategic role of smaller regional parties within the opposition landscape and how to address emerging political challenges. This initiative suggests a potential shift toward a third national-level coalition composed of regional powers seeking to create a larger platform for their interests.
