DMK postpones Mupperum Vizha celebrations due to MK Stalin's illness

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has postponed its annual Mupperum Vizha celebrations in Chennai due to the illness of party president MK Stalin. General secretary Duraimurugan confirmed that the event, which was scheduled for September 15 at Anna Arivalayam, has been deferred because Stalin is suffering from a viral fever. A new date for the function is expected to be announced once his health improves.

Despite the postponement of the main event, DMK leaders, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and Duraimurugan, gathered to pay floral tributes to former Chief Minister CN Annadurai on his 118th birth anniversary. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami also issued statements honoring Annadurai’s legacy, specifically his contributions to state autonomy, social justice, and the renaming of the state to Tamil Nadu.

The Mupperum Vizha is a significant annual milestone for the party, commemorating the birth anniversaries of social reformer Periyar E V Ramasamy and CN Annadurai, alongside the founding day of the DMK.
