DMK President M. K. Stalin explores third front amid CJP outreach
DMK President M. K. Stalin has sparked speculation regarding the formation of a third political front in India following his outreach to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). While no formal alliance has been announced, Stalin condemned the recent arrests of CJP functionaries Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in Delhi and offered the DMK’s legal assistance.
The DMK is reportedly seeking political positioning outside the existing BJP and Congress-led alliances. This follows shifts in Tamil Nadu politics where the Congress joined a TVK-led coalition, leaving the DMK with limited options within current major blocs. Previous discussions involving DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi with leaders from the Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, and Shiv Sena have yet to result in a formal arrangement.
Separately, MH Jawahirullah, president of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), dismissed rumors of a potential alliance between the DMK and the BJP, citing fundamental ideological differences regarding secularism and federalism.
