DMK senior R.S. Bharathi says no alliance with Congress or BJP

On June 7, senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader R.S. Bharathi told reporters in Pudukottai that any future political reconciliation with the Indian National Congress is ruled out. He said the two parties’ paths have completely diverged and that DMK cadres will not accept a return to any coalition.

Bharathi also rejected any prospective alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, reaffirming the party’s commitment to Dravidian principles. He criticised the recent trend of frequent party‑switching in Tamil Nadu and warned that any attempts to rebuild ties would face strong opposition. The leader highlighted the DMK’s organisational strength ahead of upcoming local body elections.
