DMLU launches Bota-Fora waste disposal project in Porto Alegre
The Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning (DMLU) is conducting the ‘Bota-Fora’ project from Tuesday (13) to Thursday (15) across 11 communities in Porto Alegre. The initiative facilitates the correct disposal of bulky items that are not collected through regular waste services, such as broken furniture, appliances, and mattresses.
By encouraging responsible disposal, the project aims to prevent irregular dumping that can obstruct streams and storm drains, thereby reducing the risk of flooding. The program targets 241 communities in situations of social vulnerability. Residents are instructed to place items in front of their homes the night before or by 7:30 AM on the scheduled day.
In addition to the scheduled community visits, residents can dispose of such materials at municipal Ecopoints or request special collection via the 156 service.
