Dmytro Luchkin wins Piotr Nurowski Award for best young winter athlete

Ukrainian snowboarder Dmytro Luchkin has been named the winner of the 11th winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Award, presented by the European Olympic Committees (EOC). The award, which recognizes the best young European winter athlete, was presented during a ceremony at Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia.

Luchkin secured the title with 33.33% of the votes from European National Olympic Committees. His recent achievements include winning silver in big air and bronze in both slopestyle and street style at the World Junior Snowboarding Championships in Calgary, as well as a seventh-place finish in his World Cup debut in Flachau, Austria.

Other finalists included Latvian biathlete Rihards Lozbers and Polish speed skater Hanna Mazur, who shared second place with 18.75% of the votes each. EOC President Spyros Capralos noted that Luchkin’s successes are particularly impressive given the challenges he faced in maintaining his training and competition schedule.
