DNA evidence revealed in Helmond death investigation

In a preliminary hearing at the Den Bosch court, prosecutors revealed new forensic evidence regarding the death of a 45-year-old woman in Helmond. DNA from the suspect, 34-year-old Ignas T., was found at multiple locations on the victim's body. Additionally, traces of the victim's DNA were discovered on the suspect's knuckles.

The victim and the suspect, both originally from Lithuania, were in a relationship and shared a residence in Helmond where the woman was found dead on the night of May 15-16. While the prosecution views the DNA findings as incriminating, the suspect denies involvement in her death, stating he does not know exactly what happened that night.

Defense counsel argued that the presence of DNA does not automatically indicate violence, noting that the couple lived together and shared a bed, which could account for the transfer of biological material.
