DNA match confirms link between newborn and accused madrasa teacher

Forensic laboratory testing has confirmed a 99.99 percent DNA match between a newborn baby and Aman Ullah Mahmudy Sagar, a madrasa teacher accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Netrokona, Bangladesh.

The victim, who was studying at a madrasa established by the accused, gave birth to a girl on July 2 at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Following the court-ordered DNA testing, the Public Prosecutor of the Netrokona Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Nurul Kabir Rubel, confirmed the results.

Police officials stated that the investigation is in its final stages, with preparations underway to submit a formal charge sheet to the court within the next few days. The accused remains in custody following his arrest in May.
