DNA rejects mandatory office attendance in favor of flexible work model
Telecommunications company DNA has announced it will not mandate office attendance, opting instead for a model based on trust and responsibility. Unlike some competitors, DNA does not track the number of days employees spend in the office, asserting that flexibility and productivity are not mutually exclusive. The company maintains that its office spaces, including its new location in Helsinki, are designed to facilitate collaboration and ideation rather than serve as mandatory workspaces.
This approach contrasts with other Finnish operators. Elisa has implemented restrictions limiting remote work to a maximum of two days per week, while Telia utilizes a hybrid model that emphasizes the importance of face-to-face interaction without strictly defining weekly office days.
The debate reflects a broader trend in Finland regarding the future of remote work. While some organizations are pushing for a return to physical offices to restore community and social cohesion, others are navigating the balance between employee flexibility and the benefits of in-person collaboration.
