DNA Script and GE Healthcare Secure $26 Million ARPA‑H Funding for DNA Manufacturing Platform

DNA Script and GE Healthcare have been awarded up to $26 million by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA‑H) for a four‑year initiative called the Flexible Automation for Scalable Health (FLASH) program. The effort will develop a modular, automated, cell‑free DNA bioproduction platform that combines DNA Script’s enzymatic DNA synthesis (EDS) technology and SYNTAX® platform with GE Healthcare’s proprietary DNA scaling technology.

The goal is to enable rapid, on‑demand manufacturing of high‑fidelity DNA for personalized medicines, vaccines and other genetic health applications, with eventual deployment across U.S. medical research centers, universities and federal agencies. Program manager John Schiel said the project exemplifies how scalable, platform‑based technologies can transform health solution development. CEO Marc Montserrat highlighted that the partnership shortens the path from bench to bedside, while GE’s John Nelson emphasized the need for faster, more flexible manufacturing as genetic therapies advance.
