Dénia coastline receives top water quality rating

The Instituto de Ecología Litoral has awarded the coastline of Dénia the highest possible rating for water quality, classifying the marine waters as being in ‘optimal’ environmental condition.

Following the 2026 Coastal Control Network programme, researchers conducted a comprehensive monitoring cycle from July 2025 to June 2026. The assessment utilized both satellite monitoring via Copernicus and quarterly in situ sampling using parametric probes to measure indicators such as water temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, nitrates, and turbidity.

The study covered seven distinct monitoring zones across the municipality, including Les Rotes (Punta Negra), Marineta Cassiana, Punta del Raset, Les Marines, Punta Molins, the mouth of the Girona River, and Les Deveses. The report concluded that no analyzed indicators exceeded established regulatory limits, certifying the excellent health of the local marine ecosystem.
