Goiás government to deliver two new Mercadão Goiano markets by 2027

The Government of Goiás is advancing the Mercadão Goiano project in the Entorno do Distrito Federal, with two new units expected to be delivered by March 2027. The initiative involves an investment of R$ 45 million per unit, funded through the state's Social Protection Fund (Protege), which has a total announced investment of R$ 250 million.

Construction is currently 99% complete in Santo Antônio do Descoberto, with an expected inauguration in December 2026. In Valparaíso de Goiás, work has reached 73% completion, with delivery anticipated by March 2027. Each facility will span approximately 8,500 square meters across two floors.

Designed to support small merchants, street vendors, and artisans, the spaces will include fruit and vegetable areas, cold storage, solar energy systems, and training rooms. The government intends to provide furnished boxes to merchants free of charge to stimulate the local economy and improve working conditions.
