DNIT resumes traffic operations on BR-116 and BR-324 highways
The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) has announced the resumption of traffic operation services on 676 kilometers of the BR-116 highway, between Feira de Santana and the Minas Gerais border, as well as on the BR-324 between Feira de Santana and Salvador.
This decision follows the signing of a contract with Jardiplan Urbanização e Paisagismo Ltda., with an estimated cost of R$ 81.5 million through November 2027. According to DNIT superintendent Roberto Alcântara, the contract will restore several services that had been suspended since the end of the previous concession, including the removal of dead animals from the roadway, the installation and operation of monitoring cameras, and emergency assistance via ambulances and fire brigades.
The contract, which began on August 3, is based on Law No. 14.133/2021. However, these services may be suspended again once a new concessionaire is selected following an auction expected to be held by the Ministry of Transport and the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) later this year.
