DNLT dismantles migrant trafficking network in Senegal

The National Division for the Fight against Migrant Trafficking and Assimilated Practices (DNLT) has referred a female suspect to the prosecutor following an investigation into a migrant trafficking network.

The case originated from a complaint filed on August 12, 2026, involving a victim who paid 2,300,000 FCFA to facilitate the emigration of his brother to the Schengen area. The suspect allegedly provided a fraudulent dossier containing an expired French residence permit, a Carte Vitale, and a renewal receipt.

The attempt to travel was thwarted at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) when routine police checks detected the falsified documents, leading to the traveler's immediate apprehension. Following investigations, the DNLT arrested the primary suspect at her residence in Ouest Foire. She faces charges including criminal conspiracy, attempted migrant trafficking by air, forgery, and fraud.
