Portugal wine sector sees awards, tourism growth and infrastructure progress

Portugal's viticulture sector is seeing significant activity through awards, tourism initiatives, and infrastructure developments. The Adega Cooperativa de Almeirim recently secured six Gold Medals at the Città del Vino European Enological Competition, contributing to Portugal's overall success in the contest.

In the Dão region, the upcoming Wine Fair in Nelas is focusing on family-oriented programming, including workshops and performances for children. Additionally, the ‘Dão de Portas Abertas’ initiative will offer exclusive experiences at eight regional producers this September. Enotourism is also expanding across the country, with various estates in the Douro and Alentejo regions offering immersive harvest experiences, such as grape picking and traditional grape treading.

On the infrastructure front, the municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães has moved into the land acquisition phase for the Barragem da Veiga project. This dam and irrigation project, estimated at 18 million euros for its first phase, aims to provide structural support for the local agricultural economy.
