Doğan Bekin resigns from Yeniden Refah Partisi leadership roles
Doğan Bekin, a Yeniden Refah Partisi (YRP) Istanbul Member of Parliament, has resigned from his administrative roles as Deputy Chairman and member of the Central Management Board. Bekin stated that his resignation from these leadership positions was made at the request of YRP Chairman Fatih Erbakan.
During a press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Bekin cited internal disagreements as a primary factor. He specifically criticized Deputy Chairman Suat Kılıç, referencing content in Kılıç’s book, ‘Son Ispartalı’, which Bekin claimed contained insults and falsehoods regarding the late Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan. Bekin described the appointment of Kılıç to a leadership role despite these statements as a ‘political ignorance’ and ‘hypocrisy’ that insulted the Milli Görüş community.
While rumors have circulated regarding Bekin potentially joining the AK Parti, he has not confirmed these reports. He clarified that while he is stepping down from party management, he intends to continue his duties as a Member of Parliament under the YRP banner. He dismissed recent social media claims about his political future as ‘fabricated’ and promised to provide further details in a subsequent briefing.
