Doan Van Hau discusses career and personal interests

In an interview during the ASEAN Club Championship, Doan Van Hau, a defender for Cong An Ha Noi, shared insights into his professional career and personal life. The 1999-born player reflected on his most memorable goal, a strike against U23 Oman while playing for the Vietnam U23 team.

Regarding regional competition, Van Hau identified Thai defender Theerathon Bunmathan of Buriram United as the most challenging opponent he has faced in Southeast Asia. He also spoke humorously about his coach, Mano Polking, describing him simply as “a human being.”

On a personal note, Van Hau revealed that Lionel Messi was his childhood idol and that his pre-match nutrition often consists of simple white rice. When asked about an alternative career path outside of professional football, he joked that he would likely become a farmer.

Van Hau’s career includes significant achievements such as winning the 2018 AFF Cup, a gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games, and being a runner-up at the 2018 U23 Asian Cup. At the club level, he has won the V. League 1 four times.
