Doan Van Hau faces disciplinary action after dangerous tackle

Doan Van Hau of Cong An Ha Noi faces potential additional disciplinary action from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) following a dangerous tackle during a V. League 1 match against The Cong Viettel.

During the 68th minute of the derby, Van Hau committed a high-speed challenge that resulted in his boot striking the shin area of The Cong Viettel midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan. After a VAR review, the referee upgraded a yellow card to a direct red card. Under league regulations, the red card carries a minimum three-match suspension.

Medical examinations revealed that Doan Ngoc Tan suffered bruising, edema of the distal fibular metaphysis, and ligament damage. He is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks, causing him to miss upcoming continental competition against Melbourne Victory. The VFF disciplinary committee is scheduled to meet to determine if further sanctions are necessary for the incident.
