Doan Van Hau receives first professional red card in V-League match

During a V-League 2026-2027 match between Cong An Ha Noi and The Cong Viettel, defender Doan Van Hau received the first red card of his professional career. In the 68th minute, Van Hau committed a dangerous challenge on The Cong Viettel midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan, striking the opponent's shin near the right ankle. While the referee initially issued a yellow card, the decision was overturned to a direct red card following a VAR review.

Doan Ngoc Tan was unable to continue the match due to the injury and required medical attention. Following the game, Van Hau proactively apologized to Ngoc Tan, stating that the challenge was not intentional. Despite the injury, Cong An Ha Noi secured a 1-0 victory.

This incident marks a significant moment for Van Hau, who had recently returned to professional football after more than two years of recovering from a heel tendon injury. The red card follows a career history of 155 club appearances and 47 national team matches without a previous dismissal.
