Dobe Anambra Ocha promotes safer waste disposal in Anambra State

The non-governmental organization Dobe Anambra Ocha has launched a sensitization campaign to encourage safer refuse disposal practices among residents of Anambra State. Led by Managing Director Okafor Ernest Obinna, the initiative targeted various waste disposal flashpoints in the state capital, Awka.

Obinna emphasized that improper waste management poses significant risks to both environmental health and public well-being. He noted that indiscriminate disposal, including items such as corn leaves, plastic sachet water containers, and cartons, has led to the blockage of drainage channels and water channels. These obstructions were particularly evident during the rainy season, where they impacted major roads.

The campaign aims to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s long-term vision of establishing a clean, green, and prosperous Anambra State by 2070 by promoting waste disposal as a civic responsibility.
