Dobong-gu launches collaborative group for Seoul Arena opening

Dobong-gu has launched the ‘Changdong Economic Engine Promotion Group,’ a public-private collaborative body designed to prepare for the opening of the Seoul Arena, a K-POP performance venue scheduled for May 2027. The group held its first meeting on the 26th to discuss strategies for maximizing the economic impact of the new venue.

The initiative aims to revitalize local alleyway businesses and boost the nighttime economy by linking them with the arena. Additionally, the group will work to address potential community issues caused by large-scale performances, such as traffic congestion, crowd safety, and noise pollution.

The promotion group operates through three specialized divisions: a General Steering Committee for project execution, a Resident and Expert Advisory Group for policy discussion, and a Local Win-Win Council involving local businesses, police, and fire departments to ensure economic vitality and public safety. The goal is to transform Dobong-gu into a cultural and tourism hub that serves as a gateway to the world.
