Dobrzeń Wielki mural depicts century of local history

A new mural has been created in Dobrzeń Wielki, depicting a century of local history through a composition of archival photographs. Painted by the Opole-based Grupa Murki, the 28-meter artwork spans the wall of a traditional Silesian-style building dating back to before 1900.

Unlike stylized depictions, the mural uses authentic historical photographs provided by local residents, featuring real ancestors and neighbors in traditional attire or performing daily tasks, such as feeding chickens. The project is part of the fourth edition of the ‘Opolska Wieś Malowana’ program, an initiative under the ‘Opolska Odnowa Wsi 2.0’ project, which aims to create 18 new murals inspired by regional heritage this year.
