Doc Delle Venezie begins Pinot Grigio harvest

The grape harvest for Pinot Grigio Doc Delle Venezie has commenced across the Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Trento regions. While the overall health of the grapes is reported as good and qualitative prospects remain positive, the harvest is characterized by varied conditions across the 27,000 hectares of vineyards.

High temperatures throughout the season have accelerated ripening in several areas. Water scarcity has particularly impacted loose soils and non-irrigated vineyards, leading to faster sugar accumulation. Luca Rigotti, president of the Consorzio Doc Delle Venezie, noted that harvest timing is being individualized by production zone to ensure the best balance for the wine's characteristics.
