Doclisboa film festival announces program of 198 films

The Doclisboa film festival returns from October 15 to 25, featuring a program of 198 films from 51 countries. The festival will showcase 32 Portuguese productions, including 11 works in the national competition, all of which are making their world premieres.

Edgar Pêra’s “Guerrilha no Asfalto” will open the festival. The international competition includes “13 Alfinetes” by João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata, a film shot in IMAX that draws inspiration from the myth of Saint Anthony and the paintings of Goya. Other notable international participants include filmmakers such as Ghassan Salhab from Lebanon, Mariano Llinás, and Alain Cavalier, whose film “Thanks for Coming” will serve as the festival closer.

The national competition features diverse works such as Ico Costa’s “Povo e Poder,” which examines the 2024 Mozambican presidential elections, and Manuel Mozos’s “A voz de todos – Jornal do Fundão.”
