Docomo Bike Share postpones rebranding and new pricing due to system failure
Docomo Bike Share has announced the postponement of its planned brand renewal to ‘NOLL’, which was scheduled for September 1. The delay also affects the introduction of new vehicle models and a new pricing structure. The company stated that the decision was made to prioritize the stability of current services and customer support following a major system failure.
The disruption began on August 1 following a system infrastructure update. The failure, caused by insufficient processing capacity in the new system during peak usage hours, prevented users from renting or returning bicycles and caused app errors. While services have gradually resumed across all areas as of August 13, some functions, such as ‘Convenience Store Passes’ and certain corporate memberships, remain unavailable.
Docomo Bike Share will issue full refunds for usage fees incurred between August 1 and the respective resumption dates in each area. Refunds are expected to be processed sequentially starting in late August and should be completed by the end of September. The new date for the brand transition remains undecided.
