Docomo Bike Share resumes service after outage, pledges full refunds to users
A system migration caused a nationwide outage of Docomo Bike Share’s electric‑bike rental service beginning July 29, disrupting rentals and returns across Japan. The company restored service in Nara on August 5, but most areas remained offline. On August 7 the service in Hiroshima City was brought back online around 15:00, although some functions such as receipt issuance were still unavailable.
Docomo Bike Share announced that all users who paid for rides from August 1 onward will receive a full refund, without the need to file a claim. The refund applies to individual and corporate members and will cover any charges incurred during the outage period, with the timing of payments still to be decided. The firm also confirmed that its planned rebrand to “NOLL,” scheduled for September 1, remains on track despite the technical issues.
