Doctor announces hunger strike over Skopje Medical Faculty hiring

Darko Vasilevski, a doctor and private specialist, has announced a hunger strike to protest what he describes as discriminatory and non-transparent hiring practices at the Medical Faculty in Skopje.

In an open letter addressed to the Dean of the Medical Faculty, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education and Science, Vasilevski claims he has been rejected for the third consecutive time from a public job advertisement for general practitioners. He alleges that his age is being used as a basis for discrimination and that the selection process lacks objectivity and transparency.

Vasilevski expressed deep dissatisfaction with the recruitment process for the Institute of Medical and Experimental Physiology with Anthropology. He noted that notifications regarding successful candidates were sent via email without legal guidance or explanations regarding the specific criteria used for selection. He is demanding a clear, merit-based selection process grounded in expertise and experience.
