Doctor Emmanuel Kerich Rescued After Kidnapping Attempt in Kenya

On August 6, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations announced that Dr. Emmanuel Kerich was rescued after being abducted at Juja City Mall by three armed men who demanded a Ksh3 million ransom. The suspects forced the doctor into a Subaru Forester that had its side‑mirror plates altered to conceal its identity. Police officers from Athi River Police Station, working with members of the public, tracked the vehicle to the Mavemba–Mugoya Road in Athi River and intercepted it. During the confrontation two suspects escaped, while a third was seized by the public, later taken into police custody and hospitalized under guard. Officers recovered a pair of handcuffs and detained the Subaru Forester as evidence. A manhunt continues for the two escaped suspects, and investigators are probing any possible link between the victims and the perpetrators.
