Dr. Griselda Basora faces Senasa fraud and malpractice charges
Dr. Griselda Altagracia Basora Ramírez is facing serious allegations involving fraud against the National Health Insurance (Senasa) and operating an unauthorized medical facility. She is among a group of 22 doctors detained by the Public Ministry for allegedly billing for specialized consultations and procedures that were never performed for Senasa affiliates.
Specifically, Basora Ramírez is accused of submitting claims for gynecological procedures allegedly performed on men. Additionally, her clinic in Santo Domingo Este, the Clínica de Obesidad y Antienvejecimiento Dra. Griselda Basora, was identified by health authorities as operating clandestinely without the necessary permits or equipment.
In July, a 28-year-old woman, Rebecca Brizard, died following a liposuction procedure performed at the clinic by Enmanuel Hernández, a barber who lacked medical training or plastic surgery accreditation. Following the death, Hernández fled the country.
